ABOUT CLC
Our Labor Council serves 105,000 workers, from 50 affiliated Unions, in 4 counties
The Fresno-Madera-Tulare-Kings, Central Labor Council is chartered by the AFL-CIO to represent local labor unions and their members in our community. As a central body, the Council exists to create a common space for shared education, information and advocacy between unions. While each union maintains its own internal structure and specific mandates, the Council’s leadership is comprised of 27 Executive Board members elected from the 50 affiliated unions.
The primary functions of the Council are at the discretion of the Executive Board, the California Labor Federation and the AFL-CIO. Each of these organizations are governed by separate constitutions and democratic conventions that determine the role of central bodies and our scope of work. While we are chartered to represent union members, the “Labor Movement” is about economic justice for all workers, everywhere, regardless of status.
Since 2001, the Council (through the CLC Partnership) has operated the “Adult and Dislocated Workers” jobs program in Fresno County, awarded by the Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board.
